Patrol Missile Vessel Suh Hoowon, The Republic of Korea Ocean Navy
- Background to the naming of the Suh Hoowon
- This Yoon Youngha class Patrol Missile Vessel was named after the late Chief Petty Officer Suh Hoowon, who fought heroically in the Battle of Yeonpyeong. Chief Petty Officer Suh was from Uiseong-gun, and the Navy named one of its newest high-speed vessels to commemorate his spirit and to protect our nation’s oceans.

- Born on November 28, 1980, in Jeonheung 2-ri (Mangol), Oksan-myeon
- On August 6, 2001, Suh enlisted in the Navy as a noncommissioned officer in the 189th class and was assigned to the Cham-357 as an engineman
- On June 29, 2002, during the Battle of Yeonpyeong, Suh manned the M60 machine gun and was killed in action when an enemy projectile penetrated the left side of his chest
- Mission of the Suh Hoowon
- Patrol Missile Vessel Suh Hoowon is the most maneuverable among all Navy vessels. It executes high-speed maneuvering strikes against enemy maritime forces, defends our coastline, escorts passenger vessels, and protects fishing boats.
Beopseong-myeon, Yeonggwang-gun
Danchon-myeon signed a partnership agreement with Beopseong-myeon in Yeonggwang-gun on March 12, 1999. Both divisions are working together to solve the chronic regionalism between the Yeongnam and Honam regions, and they continue to promote various exchange activities such as information and knowledge-sharing initiatives as well as the trading of various special products. Ultimately, the two partners are hoping to encourage exchange and understanding between the Yeongnam and Honam regions and help create better harmony across the nation.

On May 25, 2007, Sagok-myeon and the Uiseong Dongbu Nonghyup established an urban-rural area partnership agreement with Gyobang-dong in Masan-si, Gyeongsangnam-do and the Howon-dong branch of the Kyongnam Bank. The partnership promotes mutual exchange to help develop rural regions, which for a lot of people is where they trace their roots back to.
